Humboldt Park residents were dealt a double whammy when Treat closed last year: They no longer had a source for Indian-inspired brunch dishes like savory pancakes and saag paneer, plus the space was taken over by an as-yet-unopened sushi joint. HP-UKVers can still console themselves with weekend breakfast from Bake or Rootstock, but until this now, Chicagoans have been resigned to life without Indian spiced French toast. Thankfully, Treat's former owners heard our mournful dirges and have resurrected some of Treat's most popular brunch items for a pop-up this weekend to launch their new Logan Square restaurant, Township.

Last week we went to Platiyo after seeing a line in front of Orange (a block apart). This week we were up a bit earlier and arrived moments before the line started. In a review of La Taché I mentioned that it was nothing like the typical busy morning brunch spot. Orange is that busy morning brunch spot. If we arrived 5 minutes later we would have split. There is really no room for people to wait inside and it's cold outside.
