Cystic Fibrosis Tasting Event

August 23 2014 - 7:34 PM

Wine Opener logoThe Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, an organization for which I have volunteered for 17 years, is sponsoring a fun pair of events in September, which should appeal to lovers of wine, beer, or both, and will uniformly appeal to anyone looking for fun in the name of great cause.

On Friday, September 12, 2014, CFF will host the 8th annual Festiv-Ale – A Celebration of Beer, which is a beer-tasting event at Carmichael’s at 1052 W. Monroe St., at 7:00 p.m. (6:00 p.m. for VIP guests).  Prices are $65 for the regular event and $100 for the VIP reception.  Based on the list shown at the event website, all participating breweries will be local.  Featured breweries will include DryHop, Lagunitas, Temperance, Atlas, 5 Rabbit, Goose Island, and Begyle.  Music and “heavy” appetizers are included in the package, and the event will also feature a silent auction.

If the beer tasting puts you in the mood for wine, or if wine was your focus all along, CFF is hosting The Chicago Wine Opener, at the Museum of Broadcast Communications at 360 N. State St., on Friday, September 19, 2014, at 6:30 p.m. (5:30 p.m. for VIP).  Prices are $80 for the general public and $150 for VIP entry.  An attractive list of wines is promised, along with hors d’oeuvres and desserts.  The event will feature both silent and live auctions.

A portion of each event’s ticket price is tax deductible.

Historically, more than 90% of proceeds raised by CFF are donated directly to research aimed at curing the despicable and deadly illness.  For further details and for updates, please check the event websites linked above.
