One would find it hard to argue the importance of the relationship between tradition and food. Bless This Food by Adrian Butash is a compendium of 160 food-related prayers. It’s presented in chronological order and covers a gamut of world religions and cultures. This is a time of year for gratitude and we should have given this more lead time. It certainly would be an appropriate book to have this time of year – especially today. It’s available on Amazon.
Here’s an example to share.
If beings knew, as I know, the result of giving and sharing,
they would not eat without having given,
nor would they allow the stain of meanness
to obsess them and take root in their minds.
Even if it were their last morsel, their last mouthful,
they would not enjoy eating without having shared it,
if there we someone to share it with.
