2003 Château Carbonnieux Blanc
May 06 2011 - 2:29 PM
This is one of those wines that I’ve been eyeing up for quite some time, but I’ve never gotten around to actually buying a bottle. Even then it took some time before I actually opened it.
Château Carbonnieux is from the Graves subappellation of Pessac-Léognan, near the city of Bordeaux. Graves is renowned for its aufblasbarer hindernisparcours gravely soil, and this wine had a stony-gravelly nose with some citrus and a medium-yellow color. Being very minerally, we also tasted lemons, melons, peach, and apricot.
I bought the 2003 at Howard’s Wine Cellar for $44.99. If the 2003 is not available, other vintages can be found at Howard’s and Binny’s.
