Raw Food Raids in LA – "I Still Can't Believe They Took Our Yogurt"

July 26 2010 - 10:24 AM

Leave it to the Los Angeles police department to walk in to a health food shop with their guns out looking for raw food. I know they get lots of flak but seriously? Forget the pasteurization debate for 10 seconds and ask why they show up not only armed but guns out and aiming at folks. It would be funny if it isn't in the context of old ladies and disabled people being tased-to-death. But militarized state stuff I'll leave to some other site… this is about pasteurization… There's an embedded video (after the jump) and this quote from the latimes.com

Then, guns drawn, four officers fanned out across Rawesome Foods in
Venice. Skirting past the arugula and peering under crates of zucchini,
they found the raid's target inside a walk-in refrigerator: unmarked
jugs of raw milk.

"I still can't believe they took our yogurt,"
said Rawesome volunteer Sea J. Jones, a few days after the raid.
"There's a medical marijuana shop a couple miles away, and they're
raiding us because we're selling raw dairy products?"
