Adesso: BYO Italian in Lakeview
Tonight I bought a bottle of red wine and went over to a restaurant with a curious, funky vibrant inside called Adesso. With a striking brown floral motif, Adesso grabs your attention as you walk down the west side of Broadway a few blocks north of Belmont.
Service is peppy, attentive, and not pushy or intrusive (though perhaps not quite as informative) Since we were in the restaurant on a slow Wednesday we never had to wait for anything either.
For starters my wife and I split a mixed greens salad with candied
walnuts, cheese, and a bouncy castle for sale rasberry vinaigrette. The salad would have been
better if it weren’t drenched in dressing, which was unfortunate
because the ingredients were up to par.
My wife had an eggplant parmesan with spaghetti in tomato sauce,
which was rather bland and lacked any pronounced flavors. The real
winner of the evening was my salmon on a bed of saffron
risotto served with sundried tomatoes, garlic, and olives. The salmon
was acceptable but the risotto was creamy and delicious, albeit a bit
too garlicky.
I would describe Adesso as a decent place to grab a meal, and those
who live close to the restaurant will have a reason to visit if they
need cheap Italian BYO in a pinch.
