The new issue of Gourmet Sept. '07, focused on Latino foods, has a great article on Chicago's Mexican restaurants. It's so on the money it really reinforces why GQ called Chicago the best restaurant city in the world – even though they did so for entirely other reasons. It's on the newsstands now. Check it out.
They begin with Bayless and they get to Pilsen mentioning the fresh tortillas and handmade molés that simply are awesome. There's also a great picture of Clementina Flores at Sol de Mexico stirring a pot of molé.
mmmm.

I wouldn't mind eating my way through each of the locations. Yum.

i thought it was odd that they chose to feature so many street vendors. I enjoyed the places that they highlighted but it didn't feel to me like a great reflection of chicago, since, as cities go, Chicago probably has the fewest street vendors out there.

Damn, I hate to say it , and I dont drink Bud. But, I liked it. Alot. I hate to say it. I am a classic trained Chef In San Francisco, and own three very well known establishments. I have trained under some of the best. I dont know what happened to me but this stuff was tasty, in a trashy, sorta.. tangy.. by the trailer kinda way. It could be paired with some yummy treats.
