Bismillah is off of Devon, running south on Ridge. I drive past it often enough for it to come to mind when I'm thinking of a nearby new place. Having finally been there, I can cross it off my list.
Mind you, I ordered take-out and was limited to one dish– nehari. I added 4 small pakora (for a buck!) and a Pakola, a very tasty fragrant soda from Karachi. The pakora was good and I managed to eat them all by the time I got home. I was pretty grumpy (very late night at work) and maybe that contributed to me not unpacking my dinner properly.
The nehari came with ginger and hot peppers on the side. The meat was swimming in ghee. I'm used to the ginger and peppers already in the dish so was perturbed that it was "missing" only later did I find the package and put two-and-two together.
After Lucky Kebab closed I've been looking for a substitute. I think this place comes very close. It's inexpensive, the food is good and made fresh. The atmosphere is flourescent with Indian/Pakistani T.V. shows. I am quite happy with Gharib Nawaz and the ultimate– Sabri Nehari. Granted I only had one entree at Bismillah (takeout at that) but I wasn't disappointed. It was good, just not great.
FYI, the meat is Hallal and there is no booze allowed.

Wow.. the first word i uttered the moment i tasted the chicken boti with Naan. I actually ordered Chicken boti, seekh kabob(BBQ items) and naan with one of my friend who was with me.
I just fall in love with this place - though not a high end restaurant but food here is wonderful. now my friend is a permanent customer of this place who live within couple of miles but whenever i go in that area.. i dont miss to visit this place..
